FAQs
What is the burn time for your candles?
Typically the burn time for our 2 oz candles is 15+ hours, our 9 oz candles get 55+ hours, and our 12 oz candles get 80+ hours. Burn time will vary depending on whether you trim your wick before each burn, and if you power burn (more than 5 hours in one go) your candles frequently. When the wick is too long, your candle will burn hotter and faster- also increases flame size, which can be hazardous. The same goes for power burning- when you burn for an extended period of time, the wick will eventually get longer and burn hotter.
I’ve never used a wood wick before, are there any special instructions?
The only important thing to keep in mind when burning a wood wick candle is to trim the wick before each use! If you don’t trim your wick the candle burns too hot, causing your candle to burn through quicker and flames to be too large. If you ever think your flame is too high, simply extinguish, trim, and re-light. If you are experiencing issues getting your wick to light, it was possibly trimmed too short, or is being overwhelmed by wax from not attaining a full melt pool on the first burn. An easy fix is to run a butter knife along the side of the wick, removing a little bit of the wax, and then letting it burn for a few hours, or until you get a full melt pool. Wood wicks are an organic and sustainable wick, made right here in the USA and provide a delightful crackling ambiance.
Why Coconut-Soy Wax?
When we embarked on our candle making journey, the most important thing for us was making a candle that is as clean and safe as possible. We ourselves are sensitive to many candles, so the testing process was arduous and exhaustive. We tried many waxes and finally landed on a coconut-soy blend. It provides not only the cleanest burn, but the longest burn time. It evenly burns down the vessel, is paraben and phthalate free, gluten-free and vegan, comes from renewable resources, and has a creamy white texture even after it is burned.
